1513 MANUSCRIPTManuscript 1513: Questions Morales Magistri Petri Tatareti in octo capita distincter quam doctissime ab codem disputute atique discusse nec seginter an notate: atque nouiter emendate sicut legenti patebit, by Pierre Tataret, Published by pierre Gaudoul in 1513, probably in Paris. This is the amended first edition of Pierre Tataret's discussion of Aristotle's Nichomachan Ethics. The cover has been replaced with a 15th Century page from a dutch book of hours and the front flyleaves and last pages of the index are missing. Superb woodcut illustrations include title page with Virgin and Child in a ship. Dimensions: 5 3/4 by 4 by 3/8 inches. Processing and shipping in the continental U.S. $25.00 plus 1.5% replacement insurance cost.
Condition:
Cover has been replaced, and there is insect damage and a small hole in the front is piece, which also slightly abraded. Pages have some minor folds and finger marks. The last part of illustration of "Prestre Ichan" is missing. Witherell's strives to provide as much information and photographs as possible but encourages in-person inspection by bidders. 17TH CENTURY RELIGIOUS PORTRAIT, PRAGUEOil on canvas painting of Joes Cztiborius Kotva. Inscription at bottom states he is a theologian during the time of "Ferdi. II" or Holy Roman Emperor Ferdinand II (1619-1637). Painting is set in Bohemia (today Prague, Czech Republic) as the Church of Our Lady before Tyn can be seen over the subject's shoulder. A small suit of armor stands on the table next to a goblet. Well stabilized and relined. Some loss at bottom along with wear and visible repairs. Modern frame with period styling.

Philip III of Spain DS Philip III of Spain or Felipe III (1578-1621).? DS 1p on laid paper 8.25 x 12 August 25 1604 at Lerma signed Yo El Rey (I [as] the King).? Accompanied by typewritten translation. The document is addressed to the Prior of the Convent of Ucles of the Order of St. James ordering that don Goncarlo Enrriquez Knight of the Order of St. James be released from his obligation of six months on the king's galley and instead be kept on probation at the convent for one month and instructed on the rigorous ordeals and other matters that a Knight ought to know after which he will be tested and conferred with his title. Condition: Engrossed in heavier paper border.? Very good condition for 400+ years old.
