17th century British needlework, two figures, soldier with tents in background, woman in court dress in front of buildings, oval panel surrounded by stylized flowers, insects and birds above lion and leopard, silk on silk ground, British, late 17th century, 17 x 21 in. (sight); wood frame. Extensive fading and browning to silk, approximately 1-1/2 x 6 in. area with losses of silk ground and some shattering, losses to embroidered elements, possible pest damage; frame with losses and chips.

Largest: 4 1/2" x 6 1/4". Light glue discoloration to two.

Col. Lewis Farmer, ordering him to Philadelphia to take charge of new recruits, with instructions for training and equipping them; 2 1/4 pp., folio, 13 x 8 1/4 in.; endorsed by Stewart verso.
