Ordered that Nathan Cushing & Jonathan Greenleaf, Esq. Such as the Honble House shall join be & hereby are appointed a Commitee to wait on his Excellency the Governor with the following messsage Sent down for Concurrence, S. Adams, Presidt. In the House of Representatives June 4th, 1782 and concurred Capt. Patch, Doctr. Manning & Mr. Goodale are joined Natl. Gorham, Spkr.
May it please Your Excellency - The Senate & House of Representatives in General Court Assembled have receiv'd with particular Pleasure the Communication your Excellency has been pleased to make, that the Minister Plenipotentiary of His Most Christian Majesty has announced to the United States in Congress Assembled the Birth of a Dauphine of France.
We share in the lively joy which this happy Event has given the most Christian King & the Nation over which he Reigns, a Prince in whom these United States have found a most faithful Ally & a Nation who have freely expended their Treasure & their Blood in the Defence of the Rights of Mankind.
We request your Excellency with Advice of Council to take such Measures as in your Wisdom shall be thought proper to express in a Public Manner the Common Joy on this Auspicious Occassion.
And we also request Your Exellency to express to the Minister Plenepotentiary of His Most Christian Majesty our Congratulations on an Event which tends to the Stability of a Monarchy with which we are Connected by every Sentiment of Affection.

Handwritten letter dated December 26, 1758 from Jacob Bettos in Halifax to Mr. Israel Jacob, ___ Reading in Pennsylvania, care of Mose Jman (Iman), Merchant in 2nd Street, Philadelphia. Describes in some detail Bettos involvement in the significant 1758 battle of Louisbourg (Nova Scotia) and his subsequent deployment to the Bay of Fundy under General Robert Monckton. Tears (some with tape), stains and some loss. Typewritten transcription included.

FRENCH & INDIAN WAR DS, PENNSYLVANIA, 1758 Original signed order of Deputy Governor William Denny (1709-'65, royal governor of Pennsylvania, 1756-'59) May 8, 1758, requiring Capt. Garraway's company of militia to gather at Bethlehem and all the other forces east of the Susquehanna to prepare to march to Carlisle "on the first Notice," and announcing the promotion of Capt. Joseph Shippen to Brigade Major. Shippen, 1732-1810, and his soldiers would play a prominent role in Forbes' Campaign, which culminated in the capture of Fort Duquesne on Nov. 25, 1758; 1 p. 4to, laid down on a heavy sheet of paper.
