1780 NEW HAMPSHIRE COLONIAL $1 NOTE, AU50Graded About Uncirculated by PMG (AU-50) April 29, 1780, one dollar colonial note. Fr#NH-179. Very high grade for this issue. Provenance: Obtained from direct descendant of Spanish arms dealer Juan De Miralles, a friend of George Washington's(Miralles died in Washington's camp). Possibly kept as a memorial of Miralles, as the note is dated the day before Miralles died (April 28, 1780). Miralles was the consignor's fourth great-grandfather. PMG graded. Handwritten letter dated December 26, 1758 from Jacob Bettos in Halifax to Mr. Israel Jacob, ___ Reading in Pennsylvania, care of Mose Jman (Iman), Merchant in 2nd Street, Philadelphia. Describes in some detail Bettos involvement in the significant 1758 battle of Louisbourg (Nova Scotia) and his subsequent deployment to the Bay of Fundy under General Robert Monckton. Tears (some with tape), stains and some loss. Typewritten transcription included.

RARE WILSON FUSIL, NEW JERSEY BLUES, C.1757 A light flintlock rifle used by Colonel Peter Schuyler's "Jersey Blues" militia during French & Indian War and reissued at outbreak of Revolution: round barrel marked "LONDON," and with proof marks, 38 1/4 in. L.; flintlock ignition, the plate lettered "WILSON;" walnut full stock with brass butt plate (marked NEW JERSEY), trigger guard, and ramrod guides, brass thumb rest engraved "L / 4" (company and gun number), and some soldiers' graffiti; iron ramrod; 54 in. L. overall.

IMPORTANT ENGRAVING, LOUISBOURG, DATED 1771After Richard Paton (English 1717-1791), coloured engraving dated 1771 by Pierre -Charles Canot, RA (1710-1777), "The burning of the Prudent and taking of the Bienfaisant in Louisbourg Harbour, Cape Breton, 1758". This rare and historically important engraving shows the capture of Louisbourg by Admiral Bascawen, supported by General Amherst with his ground troops. Here we see the Prudent ablaze in Louisbourg harbour after Capt. Laforey and Balfour found her aground and were obliged to burn her. This historical event was the beginning of the Seven Years' War, and led to the subsequent British campaign to capture Quebec in 1759. Condition: entirely original condition, not laid down, full plate mark on all sides, 3 or 4 slight marginal tears just entering plate mark, but not entering engraved surface. Print is in exceptional condition for its age. (Original sold by Christie's, Lot 59, 1 April 2015 for $96,232 USD). 16" x 23" at sight.

Continental School 17th Century Three quarter portrait of a noblewoman. Oil on wood panel no signature found framed in a wide antique coved frame in black painted finish overall 30-3/4" x 24". Strip of textile has been applied vertically to the back of the panel probably to arrest a crack. Old stenciled auction numbers and partial sticker verso. The artwork is inscribed on the verso with white chalk "Rousuck" possibly E. J. Rousuck who was an Ohio native and former owner of Scott & Fowles a small New York art gallery that handled old master paintings.
