Early American Miniature Portrait of a Child on Paper American ca 1830. Miniature watercolor and graphite portrait on paper in the style of John Brewster. The little girl is in attire appropriate for?around 1835 including a vivid blue shawl and red coral necklace. She is framed within a painted oval double mat.?In gilded frame by W. A. Church Providence Rhode Island together with worn paper note reading?Aunt Maria painted by a noted artist who stopped at the Tavern; 3.75 in. x 2.75 in. (sight) Condition: Some spotting but relatively good condition.

Restretched on old stretcher, lined with glue, scattered retouch affecting less than 10 percent of surface primarily in background, abrasions (one through area of nose), uneven varnish, possible overcleaning in areas of background; frame with abrasions.
