US Civil War German Import 1840 Cavalry Sabre by Clemen & Jung Model 1840 cavalry sword made by Clemen & Jung blade stamped with C & J. The 36'' blade shows light rust & spotting last 10'' has been sharpened at some point. Leather grip shows age and some flaking; with original wire leather washer missing. Brass retains a nice patina. Scabbard good condition with some denting. Shows age with light rust. Condition: Very good.

US 1860 LIGHT CAVALRY SABER REPLICA
US 1860 LIGHT CAVALRY SABER REPLICA W/ SCABBARD A nicely made replica of the Model 1860 Light Cavalry Saber used by Union forces during the Civil War. The sword features a 36" curved blade mounted to a bronze wrap-around hand-guard hilt and wire-wrapped leather grip. The sword has only one marking of a Knight's Helmet on the right hand side just above the hilt. The scabbard appears as if it could be a genuine Civil-War era piece, however, as it has the distinctive solder line along the blade edge. The sword is in overall good condition with some minor damage to the leather grip and light rust spots near the base, the scabbard has surface rust throughout.

U.S. Cavalry Officer's Model 1872 Saber 34'' blade with etched panels of military motifs. In a panel near the ricasso is etched in four lines Springfield Armory Springfield Mass. U.S.A. This style of marking was used circa 1892-1900. Shagren and gilt brass wire wrapped handle. Metal scabbard. Condition: Sword is excellent. The scabbard has a brown patina speckled with some nickel finish.

Springfield Model 1872 Light Cavalry Officer's Swo 34'' blade with etched panels of military motifs. On the blade near the ricasso in four lines is an etched panel marked U.S. Armory Springfield Mass. This type of marking was used on swords circa 1880. Shagreen and gilt brass wire wrapped handle with gilt chased pommel and three-fingered guard. Metal scabbard with chased brass fittings and drag. Condition: Blade and handle are in excellent condition. Blade retains 98% of the nickel finish. Nickel scabbard is speckled with storage rust. Overall excellent example of an early light cavalry sword.

CAVALARY SABER. Model 1860. Both sides of blade are corroded near the handle. No markings are visible on sides. A numeral ''2'' is visible on the top of the blade about an inch from the hilt. No wire and the leather wrap is not original. Possibly an European import of the period.
