US Civil War German Import 1840 Cavalry Sabre by Clemen & Jung Model 1840 cavalry sword made by Clemen & Jung blade stamped with C & J. The 36'' blade shows light rust & spotting last 10'' has been sharpened at some point. Leather grip shows age and some flaking; with original wire leather washer missing. Brass retains a nice patina. Scabbard good condition with some denting. Shows age with light rust. Condition: Very good.

Springfield Model 1872 Light
Springfield Model 1872 Light Cavalry Officer's Swo 34'' blade with etched panels of military motifs. On the blade near the ricasso in four lines is an etched panel marked U.S. Armory Springfield Mass. This type of marking was used on swords circa 1880. Shagreen and gilt brass wire wrapped handle with gilt chased pommel and three-fingered guard. Metal scabbard with chased brass fittings and drag. Condition: Blade and handle are in excellent condition. Blade retains 98% of the nickel finish. Nickel scabbard is speckled with storage rust. Overall excellent example of an early light cavalry sword.

US 1860 LIGHT CAVALRY SABER REPLICA
US 1860 LIGHT CAVALRY SABER REPLICA W/ SCABBARD A nicely made replica of the Model 1860 Light Cavalry Saber used by Union forces during the Civil War. The sword features a 36" curved blade mounted to a bronze wrap-around hand-guard hilt and wire-wrapped leather grip. The sword has only one marking of a Knight's Helmet on the right hand side just above the hilt. The scabbard appears as if it could be a genuine Civil-War era piece, however, as it has the distinctive solder line along the blade edge. The sword is in overall good condition with some minor damage to the leather grip and light rust spots near the base, the scabbard has surface rust throughout.

SCARCE US CIVIL WAR MODEL 1840 C&J (CLEMEN & JUNG) HEAVY CAVALRY SWORD WITH SCABBARD US Civil War Model 1840 Clemen & Jung Heavy Calvary Sword, with ricasso stamped "C & J". Leather grip wrap is complete and the twisted brass wire is intact. The pommel cap and knuckle guard are discolored and soiled with rubs and scuffs. The blade hasn't been sharpened, surface rust with some light pitting, clip point tip, 36" blade, 43" overall. Scabbard has light surface rust overall, scuffs and scratches.

Condition: The one in the scabbard is excellent. The one without the scabbard has some nicks on the outer edge of blade and the blade is grey with some staining. Handle is excellent and brass with nice tarnish.

No marks numbers or letters. Brown scabbard - rusted hole in bottom. No marks. Sword has no marks and replaced wood handle.

Sheble & Fisher Model 1840 Civil
Sheble & Fisher Model 1840 Civil War heavy cavalry sword 35 1/2'' plain curved blade with two fullers 1 1/4'' wide at the ricasso; three bar brass basket handguard with Phrygian helmet pommell original spiral wood grip with small amount of wire remaining. No leather covering remaining. No scabbard present. Other Notes: Sheble & Fisher made swords from 1861-1864. Their offices were based in Philadelphia at 3 North 5th. Street with their factory in Frankfort. They were listed in 1859 as Sheble Lawson & Fisher. In 1860 Samuel Sheble & John Fisher were listed as fork manufacturers. By 1862 they were listed under military goods in the BD & in 1863 as manufacturers of hay & manure forks swords. They made artillery cavalry & NCO swords & sword bayonets on contract for the U.S. Government during the Civil War. (September 24 1861) ''... and are having machinery made for the purpose of manufacturing cavalry sabers which has obliged them to lay out considerable money for that purpose...and having been obliged to borrow money to enable them to put in the machinery for the manufacture of sabers .'' This pressed them for cash in the short term. Their usual business being the manufacture of iron forks. DAMGD&M 1785 -1915 Bazelon & McGuinn. Good with even patina on all metal surfaces. Brass handguard is somewhat bent. No leather covering remaining. No scabbard present.
