BRITISH PATTERN 1853 RIFLE MUSKET EnglandC. 1856.577 caliber, NSN, walnut stock with a round cartouche on the right side of the butt marked "PIMLCO/1861" with a crown over "P/I" and a "2", stamped "P/10" twice below the trigger guard, brass butt plate, trigger guard, and nose cap, steel barrel bands, lock marked with a crown over "VR" and "1856/TOWER", with a small crown over "17", the top of the barrel and breech has a bunch of proof marks, with a nipple protector, and a ramrod.

Model 1812 Type 2 Pattern Flintlock Musket .69 caliber smoothbore 42" round barrel with no marks. Stud retainers for all bands. No lock markings on the face but on the inside of lock triggerguard and buttplate?is a script "D". ?Walnut stock with cheek recess and a cartouche?ET which stands for Edwin Tyler (w. 1813-1819). Musket?has unusual?trumpet-shaped ramrod and uses?a model 1816-style lockplate that is 6.4" in length. Condition: All metal is very sharp and crisp and appears to be close to mint. ?Stock with beautiful opened grained wood and?a mint cartouche. ?Entire musket blends well and is?in almost mint condition.

Walnut stock with concave cheek piece. Condition: All metal has been cleaned ?still has grey look with very sharp and crisp lines and makings. Stock has been cleaned with a dark look and some nicks and dings.??Front end of stock under front band has?been shortened about 1" as well as the band spring has been shortened.??Very nice example of a 1777.?

Condition: Barrel has pitting and staining ?scattered throughout the top of the barrel with some red pitting around the touch hole and a grey look.? Top of breech plug has some dents. Rear of lockplate has some deep pitting around the "United States" markings.? Brass has tarnished look.? Stock has old repaired? piece of wood at the front of the lockplate.? Stock is dark with nicks and dings.? A very rare musket.

At that time, it was said to have been brought back from the Texas War of Independence by a member of the Dickinson family of Chattanooga, Tennessee.
