BRITISH 1889 CAVALRY SABERA
BRITISH 1889 CAVALRY SABERA fairly scarce British model 1899 saber, in an earlier pattern scabbard. The blade has a number of issue stamps, including one that may be the Indian 34 th or Poona Horse. The guard and scabbard are all steel, with a hard rubber grip. The blade is quite stiff, and has been service sharpened. Dimensions: the blade is 33.5 inches long and the sword is 43.75 inches long overall. Processing and shipping within the continental U.S. $55.00 plus 1.5% replacement cost insurance.
Condition:
The hilt and scabbard are in very good condition. The blade is service sharpened, and is very good on one side. The other side has extensive staining, with minor rust, and a few small patches of pitting. Fit between the guard and scabbard throat is a little uneven, but the sword fits well in the scabbard. Witherell's strives to provide as much information and photographs as possible but encourages in-person inspection by bidders. Condition: statements are only for general guidance and should not be relied upon as complete statements of fact and do not constitute a representation, warranty or assumption of liability by Witherell's. All lots are sold "AS IS" under terms and conditions.
