Together with a book bound in soft green leather titled Little Journeys to the Homes of Famous Women by Elbert Hubbard (New York and London, 1902) and a dozen 1970s comic books, including Archie, Beetle Bailey, Sad Sack, Underdog and Bugs Bunny.

JOHN ATWOOD PICTORIAL MAP OF THE UNITED STATES 1857 32" x 49" Issued by Ensign, Bridgman & Fanning, this map was drawn and engraved by J.M. Atwood and covers the entire United States from Atlantic to Pacific and from Canada to the Gulf of Mexico. Cartographically, the map illustrates an ephemeral period in the development of the American west. Issued in five different editions from 1847 to 1858, this map and the other four editions exhibit significant changes to the country.

Critchlow Brown Composition Case with original label. Inscribed date of photograph is April 21, 1857. Excellent condition; some wear in margins where oval mat covers image and bend at top left corner of image. Case in excellent condition.

John J. Crittenden (1787-1863) was an important Kentucky politician who served in numerous state and federal positions. He was Attorney General under William Henry Harrison, John Tyler, and Millard Filmore, and later served as Kentucky's governor from 1848-50. This painting hung in the Crittenden House in Russellville, Kentucky.

FRENCH & INDIAN WAR DS, PENNSYLVANIA, 1758 Original signed order of Deputy Governor William Denny (1709-'65, royal governor of Pennsylvania, 1756-'59) May 8, 1758, requiring Capt. Garraway's company of militia to gather at Bethlehem and all the other forces east of the Susquehanna to prepare to march to Carlisle "on the first Notice," and announcing the promotion of Capt. Joseph Shippen to Brigade Major. Shippen, 1732-1810, and his soldiers would play a prominent role in Forbes' Campaign, which culminated in the capture of Fort Duquesne on Nov. 25, 1758; 1 p. 4to, laid down on a heavy sheet of paper.
