Less than 10% bluing remains the rest with dark gray patina bore good with some corrosion action is smooth engraved cylinder scene visible but rather worn old/original finish on the grips some nicks and dings mostly around the wedge but the wedge serial number matches. Manufactured 1851.

COLT MODEL 1851 NAVY .36 CAL PERCUSSION REVOLVERFeatured in this lot we have a Colt model 1851 Navy percussion cap revolver chambered in .36 caliber. This revolver features a 7 1/2" long octagonal barrel engraved six shot cylinder, case hardened frame, under barrel ram rod, walnut grips, and silver finish trigger guard. The top of the barrel displays clear stamping reading "ADDRESS SAML COLT NEW-YORK CITY". The cylinder displays an engraved naval scene marked on the side "COLTS PATENT NO 25387 Engraved by W.L. Ornsby New York" and "Engaged 16 May 1845". The barrel, frame, cylinder, and trigger guard display matching serial number 25387 with the frame marked on the side "COLTS PATENT". This revolver has excellent mechanics and screws and has matching serial number, indicating a manufacture date of 1852. The Colt 1851 Navy was one of the most classic side arms of the Civil War and later in the Old West. Wild Bill Hickock was carrying a pair of Colt 1851 Navy revolvers when he was gunned down in Deadwood, South Dakota on August 2, 1876. The revolver shows good condition with some light wear due to handling and some minor wear on the blue'd finish. The pistol weights 2lbs 10oz. Serial Number: 25387. This firearm qualifies as an Antique, and does not require FFL Transfer or NICS Background Check.

COLT MODEL 1851 NAVY REVOLVER. .36 caliber six-shot cylinder 7 1/2'' octagonal barrel with New York address walnut grips. S/n 109489. According to tradition this gun originally belonged to Joseph Berkstresser of Company L of the 160th Pennsylvania Volunteers which was later reorganized into Company L of the 15th Pennsylvania Cavalry. Only fair condition scattered oxidation action is nonfuntional loading lever does not move marks worn and barrel scene not visible. Mfd. 1861.

ID'D COLT MODEL 1851 NAVY REVOLVER. .36 caliber six-shot cylinder engraved and nickel-plated frame 7 1/2'' octagonal barrel ivory grips. S/n 88061. Engraved on the barrel is ''JMS'' for James M. Sanderson who mustered into the 22nd Massachusetts Infantry in September 1861. As a hotel keeper in private life Sanderson was well-suited to served in a variety of roles in the Commissary Department ultimately as the commissary officer of the Army of the Potomac. He also authored the army cookbook Camp Fires and Camp Cooking. He was captured during the pursuit of Lee's army following Gettysburg. While serving in Libby Prison he organized the prison's commissary though not to the satisfaction of some of his fellow Union officers many of whom spoke out against him. He was also thought by some to have betrayed a plot to escape Libby Prison a plot that was ultimately and fantastically successful in 1864. 90+% of original plating engraving crips and clear barrel mark slightly worn minor corrosion spots scattered age cracks in grips bore condition good action is smooth. Manufactured 1858.

ID'D COLT MODEL 1851 NAVY REVOLVER. .36 caliber six-shot cylinder 7 1/2'' octagonal barrel walnut grips. S/n 35682. Engraved on the grip strap is ''Lt. Col. Jas. L. Graham.'' Graham enlisted in 12th New York Infantry in May 1861 and received the rank of lieutenant-colonel. He mustered out of the 12th NYVI in June and was later commissioned a captain in the 12th New York Cavalry where he served until 1864 when he resigned for personal reasons. Mottled gray patina with some light corrosion bore condition is good action works but is a little rough old/original finish on the grips barrel mark crisp others worth scene on the barrel not visible at all wedge does not have a serial number. Manufactured 1854. Documentation accompanies this lot.
