THREE US MILITARY SWORDS, 1872, 1902, & 1906 Three US military swords comprising, a Springfield National Armory, 1872 pattern, Peterson #86 Indian Wars officer?s dress sabre, having a gilded hilt with a leafed cap, shield and leafed wreath on the pommel, a shagreen grip, and eagle and 13 stars guard stamped s. w. p., with a floral and figural embellished blade; a named Iver Johnson Co. (American), model 1902 officer?s dress sword with scabbard, the blade decorated with etched florals and patriotic symbols including cannons and flags, inscribed for William Montgomery; and an Ames (American), model 1906 officer?s sabre, with steel hilt, leather grip with wire wrapping, and chromed blade stamped with the markings "A. S. Co.," for the Ames Sword company, a flaming bomb, and "1906" on one side of the ricasso, and "US/J. H. C", 27 and g64 on the other, the JHC likely indicates the inspector who approved the sword. Approximate measurements: First, blade l. 33. 75", overall l. 39'; second, blade l. 29. 75", overall l. 35. 25", in scabbard l. 36. 75"; third, blade l. 35", overall l. 41".

US Civil War Model 1852 Naval Officer's Sword Civil War regulations mandated a straight edge to the new Model 1852 Naval Officer's sword. This example marked with beehive. Sword has a gilt hilt with dolphin head quillon with open-work oak leaves and acorns with U.S.N. in center. Knuckle bow also has figural dolphin with spread-winged eagle on pommel with star surround wire-wrapped ray skin grip. The 29'' steel blade is acid etched with naval motifs with 3/4-fuller and false edge. Lacks scabbard; total length 34.75''. Condition: Very good.
