Behind hammer on lock plate marked ''1863''. U.S. Springfield and eagle stamped in front of hammer. Eagle is also stamped on the breech plug. Stock has dings scratches and discoloration which is consistent with age. Bore shows light rust. Hammer lock and trigger mechanism are strong. Parts look original.

I.195.PA.", marked lower right "N Wolf 1865", and accompanied by GAR reunion certificate dated November 5, 1920, stating that Nicholas Wolf was 75 years old on that date, born in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, and served as a private in Company J, 195 Pennsylvania Volunteers Regiment; discharged January 31, 1866, having entered the service February 11, 1865.
