Colt .22 caliber revolver, single action, Army factory conversion, .44 to .22 caliber rimfire, serial number 1797, trigger guard stamped .22 caliber over .44, inspector's mark an upside down "C" on firing pin aperture, fewer than 100 made of this conversion, with letter from Colt Manufacturing Co. dated 1963 describing the gun when it was originally shipped; no permit required. Excellent condition, bright bore, minor pitting on face of cylinder, tight mechanically, later mother-of-peal grips with one chip, steer head with red eyes, later nickel plating and engraving probably late 19th/early 20th century. COLT NEW LINE .22 CALIBER REVOLVERThis is an example of Colt’s first entirely cartridge revolver, First sold in 1871, it is in .22 caliber, and is 7 shot. The frame is brass, and the barrel is steel. This one has the letter :B” carved into the grip on one side, with “Brown” carved into the other, Serial numbered 6665, the gun was made in 1874. Dimensions:The barrel is 2.25 inches, and the gun is 6 inches long overall. Processing and shipping within the continental U.S. $25.00 plus 1.5% replacement cost insurance.
Condition:
The gun has a crisp, tight action, and is in very good condition. The barrel is grey. The grips have been carved with the owner’s initial and name.
