Comes with bayonet stamped ''U S'' just above bend at base. S/n 219873. Over-all condition is good. Some dings and scratches.

SPRINGFIELD TRAPDOOR RIFLE. Model 1873 45-70 caliber 32 1/2'' round barrel long range rear sight walnut stock sling and stacking swivel. S/n 441556. Clean bore good rifling strong action. Barrel has deep blue and proof marks at breech. Breech block shows great case hardened colors. US Model 1873 at breech square 1888 cartouch on left side of stock tiny x stamped in wood below lower tang followed by P in circlr cartouch. US on buttplate is hard to read due to light stamp. Lockplate shows Eagle and US Springfield. Wood shows few dings. Overall condition is excellant.

All mounts are of brass and the stock is fitted with a 9 1/4" ringbar and ring on the left side. Ramrod swivels have been replaced by a sleeved chain device, a rare varient. SPRINGFIELD RIFLE. Trapdoor marked U.S. Model 1873 on top of breech 45-70 caliber 32-1/2'' round barrel. Flip up rear sight. S/n 347277. Bore is clean good rifling strong action. Damage to forestock at second band. Heavy varnish and dark patina on stock. Metal has dark brown patina. Springfield on lockplate as well as Sn. and patent are faded. Barrel band letters and barrel stamps also faded.
