SOUTHERN CALENDAR CLOCK CO. FASHION CLOCK, C. 1880 Seth Thomas Clock Co. (American 1853), for the Southern Calendar Clock Co. (American 1875-1899), Fashion shelf clock, last quarter 19th century, having a parcel gilt walnut case, curved cornice with three finials, supported by turned columns, the glass door with "Fashion" in gilt lettering, eight day movement, dial with Roman numerals and patent date of December 18. 1875 and inset seconds dial with patent date of April 16, 1878, and date aperture with Arabic numerals, perpetual day and month rolls, and patent date March 18, 1879, marked to the dials and paper label to the interior of case. Provenance: From the Collection of Bruce Cusmano, Metropolitan Artifacts, Atlanta, Georgia. Approximate dimensions: h. 32", w. 16", d. 5. 5".

An Eli Terry Shelf Clock ca. 1850's With mahogany veneers stenciled half columns and splat mirrored tabled below clear rolled glass top painted wood face with Arabic numerals spandrels with strawberry motif with weights pendulum and crank partial paper label inside back.Eli Terry (1772-1852) apprenticed to Thomas Harland and was destined to become one of the most famous of watch makers. The oldest of ten children he made his first clock at age 21. In 1800 he started the first clock factory in America at Northbury a part of Plymouth Connecticut.

MASSIVE PRE 1850 FIGURAL MANTLE CLOCK 7 ½" thick x 14 ½" wide x 25" tall;l A 4 ¼" white enamel dial with Roman Numerals for all chapters, with all minute hash marks on a continuous circle at the dials edge. Blued steel Renaissance style minute/hour hands. Beveled glass crystal on front and domed glass on the back cover. An 80 mm japy style half and hour strike type, silk suspension movement is utilized. A bronze gilt philosopher with a tome in contemplation rests on top of a black slate base, decorated with a gilt border and heavy scroll feet. Weighs 45 lbs. Movement stamped Raingo-Freres.

PRE 1850 FRENCH FIGURAL MANTLE CLOCK, STAMPED TIFFANY & CO. 5" thick x 12 ½" wide x 22 ¾" 4" engine turned dial with applied Roman numerals and blued steel hands. An 80 mm japy half and hour strike movement utilizes a silk suspension. On top of the rectangular gilt bronze base decorated with scrolls, sits a scimitar armed warrior on a rearing horse, urging his followers forward. Marked Tiffany & Co on back of case.

Seth Thomas Office #1 Wall Clock ca. 1875 Time only spring wound clock original painted 12" dial with Roman numerals rosewood case with painted lower window. With pendulum. Seth Thomas (1785-1859) apprenticed to a carpenter and then when 22 years of age he joined the firm Terry and Hoadley in clock making. He then started his clock factory in Plymouth Hollow and remained there until his death in 1859. He was regarded as one of the most honest and successful clock makers of his time. He is one of the most recognized makers even in modern time.
