1914 BASEBALL WORLD TOUR CIGAR BOX1914 Giants and White Sox historic World Tour related cigar box. Complimentary cigar box given to the attendees of The Homecoming Dinner at the Biltmore Hotel in New York City on March 7, 1914, celebrating the return of the two teams from their historic Major League Baseball World Tour. The tour, which commenced in 1913 just after the World Series, took the teams to 13 countries and was known as "The Tour to End All Tours". Taking part in the tour were future Hall of Famers Christy Mathewson, Tris Speaker, Urban Farber and Sam (Wahoo) Crawford, along with Jim Thorpe, James Scott, George (Hooks) Wiltse, “Bunny” Hearn, and “Turkey” Donlin. The trip was organized by John (Mugsy) McGraw, manager of the Giants, and Charles Comiskey, owner of the White Sox. Cardboard with paper covering, decorated in gilt with playing positions and the international cities where the teams played. Measures 3/4" H x 5 1/4" W x 2 1/2"D.
