  SPRINGFIELD RIFLE-MUSKET 1863. Type I .58 caliber 40'' round barrel and darkly stained wood stock. Barrel is marked ''1863'' in front of tang and ''V ''over ''P'' just left of tang on barrel. Behind hammer on lock plate marked ''1863''. U.S. Springfield and eagle stamped in front of hammer. Eagle is also stamped on the breech plug. Stock has dings scratches and discoloration which is consistent with age. Bore shows light rust. Hammer lock and trigger mechanism are strong. Parts look original.

  Springfield: 1870, trapdoor breech-ldg carbine, .50 cal, 22" bbl. Dated 1870 on breech-block, lock marked U.S. Springfield with eagle and shield over crossed arrows. C. war type lockplate dated 1864 as is correct for this model. Eagle head over crossed arrows and U.S. on breech, U.S. on buttplate, fitted with saddle bar and ring. 1 of 341, produced in 1871, no serial # visible, very good working order and condition. Estimate $3,500-5,000

  Model 1865 Springfield First Allin Rifle .59 cal. 40'' barrel. Three barrel bands lockplate dated 1865 with eagle and marked U.S. Springfield. Walnut stock. Condition: Barrel is brown with some pitting mixing in. Lockplate has been polished and re-colored. Stock has a small splinter missing at the extractor. Stock has some nicks and dings.

Condition: Excellent condition with an excellent bore.?This gun retains ca 99% original parkerized finish and the stock is excellent with a few minor dings.

Clean bore rifling visible though weak strong action. Eagle and US Springfield on lockplate. V P Eagle head proof marks on barrel. Square cartouche on left side of stock. Dark grey-blue patina on barrel stock has some dings. Lettering is slightly faded though quite legible. A nice clean gun.

Condition: Excellent condition with an excellent bore. It retains ca 98% original parkerized finish with only light handling marks. The stock rates excellent and it would be hard to find a better example.

Cartouche stamps are missing from stock. Heavy varnish.
