VINTAGE WORLD WAR II 16 MM COMBAT FILM STOCK, 1945Original military film photography in cannister, Pacific Theater.
An extremely rare reel of 16 mm film, featuring original military footage. The metal cannister, which exhibits minor outer rusting, was previously labeled in red permanent marker LUZON, CORREGIDOR CAMPAIGNS. HIROSHIMA & SURRENDER ABOARD THE U.S.S. MISSOURI. PROPERTY OF JIM HOLDER. The Battle of Luzon was fought from January�August 1945. The Battle to Recapture Corregidor took place in February 1945. The bombing of Hiroshima occurred on August 6, 1945. The formal surrender of Japan took place aboard the battleship U.S.S. Missouri on September 2, 1945. The film, which fills an entire large reel, is not examined, and was purchased at a private sale in the Midwest c. 1990.

WWII US MILITARY NAVY SERVICE COLLECTIONPersonal items from sailor "John D. Fink", Electrician's Mate Second Class, USN. Lot includes various patches, photo, dog tag, submarine warfare insignia, blanket & 1946 Honorable Discharge certificate from the United States Navy. The patches bear the names of one ship and two submarines. U.S.S. Crestview, U.S.S Crevalle and U.S.S. Tigrone. On 11 August, the first reports of Japan's surrender were received, but, for two more days, Tigrone continued her patrols, approaching within 50 miles (80 km) of the shore of Sagami Wan as she pursued lifeguard duties. On 13 August, with Navy pilots helping to spot targets, she bombarded Mikomoto Island, scoring 11 hits on a radio station and lighthouse tower.
