VINTAGE AMERICAN 45 STAR FLAG-1896The 45-star flag became the official United States flag on July 4, 1896. A star was added for the admission to the Union of Utah on January 4, 1896. The 45-star flag was in use for 12 years, until July 4, 1908 with the addition of a star for the state of Oklahoma, admitted to the Union on November 16, 1907. 58" high, 93" long. Some small holes, expected age and use wear, fading and discoloration.

Published May 12 1794 by Laurie & Whittier London successors to Robert Sayer. Hand-colored. 22'' x 29'' framed to 27'' x 34''. Plate impression measures 18'' x 21.5''. A 3'' x 4'' printed paper label is affixed to the upper margin from the Dublin nautical goods supplier McAuley & Hughes. Condition: Scattered minor stains. One 2.5'' vertical tear at upper center.

[Flags and Patriotic Textiles] 38-Star American Parade Flags Lot of 7 glazed cotton printed parade flags each with 38 stars configured in 7/6/6/6/6/7 horizontal rows six flags measuring 6.75'' x 9.75'' affixed to 18'' dowels one measuring 17.5'' x 12'' affixed to a 23.5'' dowel. Colorado was admitted as the 38th state in 1876 and no other states were admitted until the Dakotas in 1889. These flags were found inside the walls of a building in Iowa which was built in 1884 during demolition for remodeling. Condition: Scattered stains and color loss. Each with a horizontal ''crease'' or ''pinch'' under the topmost stripe.

36 STAR FLAG, OF THE PERIOD 1865-67Hand sewn flag of loose spun cotton with a heavier cotton hoist. Grommet holes reinforced with stitching, phalanx or battalion arrangement of stars, sewn on each side of the canton, with the rays arranged roughly similarly. 36 star flags were officially used from July 4, 1865 - July 4 1867, beginning with Nevada statehood. This style flag was famously used to cushion Abraham Lincoln as he lay on his deathbed after being shot at Ford's Theater on April 15. Hand crafted flag has a blue field composed of two pieces, stars finished neatly on one side, with the hoist on the right. Overall approx. 91-1/2" L x 52-3/4" H. Overall wear commensurate with age and use. Some discoloration/staining, mended areas, holes, etc. See images for detail.This item can be shipped in-house.
