RARE 1976 OLYMPICS NIGERIAN TEAM
RARE 1976 OLYMPICS NIGERIAN TEAM STRIPED JACKETThis jacket belonged to a member of the Nigerian Olympic team at the 1976 Olympics in Montreal. A nice bit of sports memorabilia, it is also a piece of civil rights history. For just after the opening ceremonies, several African countries -- Nigeria included -- boycotted the 1976 Olympic games and recalled their teams in protest of South African apartheid. There were reportedly only seven Nigerian athletes at Montreal, and they all left almost immediately after the games began. Jacket is in generally good condition, with no damage to the outside. A few small, old moth holes in the lining. shipping info This lot can be shipped in-house.
