Deal began collecting art in the late 1960's and continued their acquisitions of sculpture and paintings over the next 30 years. In 1989 the Deal collection was named one of the Top Ten Art Collections in the world by Art and Antiques Magazine. Mr. Deal served on the DMA board from 1984 to 1989 as Chairman of the Acquisitions Committee. In the early 80's the Deals began collecting drawings by 20th century artists and in 2005 donated this significant collection of 125 drawings to the DMA.
