Interesting Collection of Four English Polychromed Lead or Cast-Iron Humidors of Small Size, second quarter 19th century, the collection comprised of an oblong octagonal example having an interior British Design Registry lozenge for May 1, 1849 and fitted with a conforming interior lead secondary cover, the primary cover with a finial of a hookah-smoking seated pasha, a similar oblong octagonal humidor, also with an interior secondary cover and having a Blackamoor-head finial on the outer cover, a smaller cast-iron humidor of chasse form in the Gothic taste, and a square lead humidor with shaped corners, also having an interior secondary cover, all four examples bearing period polychromy and parcel-gilding in varying states of repair, h. 5" to 6".
