  L.C. Smith ''Trap Gun'' 12 gauge double barrel percussion shotgun serial #50499 early 20th century; round tapered barrels with traces of damascus construction browned 32 in. L.; checkered walnut stock and forearm; overall length - 47 1/2 in. Estimate $ 150-250 Gutta-percha bolt plate with significant losses. Front lip of forearm missing. Metal parts with light brown corrosion.

The buttstock is a replacement and the original forearm is cracked on the bottom where it meets the forearm iron. The triggerguard is a replacement and is numbered 2339957. The barrels retain ca 99% original blue finish and the stocks are excellent with two tiny dings on the buttstock.?It would be hard to improve on this minty little 20 gauge.

Condition: Very good condition with excellent bores. The barrels retain ca 85% original thinning blue finish while the receiver retains ca 5-10% original case colors in the protected areas. The wood rates excellent as refinished with a repaired crack through the wrist and re-cut checkering. Wood to metal fit is excellent.

  *Winchester Model 1897 Black Diamond Trap Gun 12 gauge 30'' matted top barrel S/N 541396. Blue finish checkered walnut black diamond English style stock bolt marked Trap Gun inscribed Col. D.B. Dyer on left side of the receiver; 1911 date of mfg. With canvas carrying case. A Springfield letter confirms that the gun was made in October 1911 and probably shipped to a retailer in Kansas City. The trap gun's condition reflects the fact that it was purchased about a year before D.B. Dyer died unexpectedly in December 1912. Descended Directly from the Dyer Family Condition: Very good condition with an excellent bore. It retains ca 60% original blue finish with most loss on the receiver due to brown patina and some moderate pitting on the left side of the receiver. The inscription is believed to be factory but it does not letter to the gun.

Condition: Excellent condition with excellent bores. It retains ca 40% original case colors ca 98% original barrel blue and excellent stocks with only minor dings and scratches. The buttplate has a tiny chip at the toe. This is a clean original Parker in a desirable configuration.

Condition: Barrel and action retains 90% of the original blue finish. Breechblock with traces of case color mostly turning brown. Walnut stock has had a coat of Tru-oil applied. Still retains a good cartouche; the stock has a cut out where the receiver sight was added. Bore is excellent.

Clean bore rifling visible though weak strong action. Eagle and US Springfield on lockplate. V P Eagle head proof marks on barrel. Square cartouche on left side of stock. Dark grey-blue patina on barrel stock has some dings. Lettering is slightly faded though quite legible. A nice clean gun.
