AMERICAN-MADE SILVER HILTED SMALLSWORDAMERICAN-MADE SILVER HILTED SMALLSWORD United States,Unmarked silver hilted smallsword attributed to William Little of Newburyport, Massachusetts, (1745-1816), with reinforcements between the clam shell-type counter-guard and reinforcements from the pas d'ane to the knuckle bow and the quillon, wire-wrapped grip, and a steel colichemarde-style blade with engraved foliate designs on both sides of the ricasso. Note: Although unmarked, the hilt has many attributes of William Little-marked swords. A very similar marked sword was sold at Heritage Auctions, April 9, 2020, Lot 28168, and two others are shown in "Silver Mounted Swords - The Lattimer Family Collection," by Daniel D. Hartzler, Josten's Printing Company, PA, 2000, pp. 108-109.
