Parsons (American, 1821-1910) and Currier and Ives (American, 19th Century) "High Pressure Steamboat Mayflower: First class Packet Between St. Louis and New Orleans", third quarter 19th century, oil on canvas, unsigned, 10-1/4" x 16-1/4". Presented in its period giltwood frame. The steamboat Mayflower was one of the fastest and finest steamers on the Mississippi. She was the first packet ship between St. Louis and New Orleans on the Mississippi River and was captained by Joseph Brown.

METAMORA STEAMBOAT PHOTOGRAPH, 19TH CENTURY19th Century photograph of the riverboat Metamora with the Hart's Line boat house in the distance. Photograph taken at the height of the Golden Era of steamboats on the Ocklawaha River. Carved wood frame measures 13" x 12". Photograph measures 7 1/2" x 4 3/4". Excellent condition. The Lucas steamer, the Metamora, was described as the most handsome and luxurious steamboat on the Ocklawaha. In 1903, the Metamora was headed back to Palatka, after a stop at Silver Springs, when it sank in the middle of the night. Two deck hands were drowned, but all the passengers survived. Jacksonville’s “Florida Times-Union†described the incident as the first serious accident “on the famous Ocklawaha.“
