Genealogical research has identified a Joses Green that served in Company C of the 108th New York Infantry. Gray-brown patina with some light corrosion. Included is a file of photocopies of documents related to Joses Green's war record mostly of his application for disability status.

BACON NAVY MODEL REVOLVER. Second type. .38 caliber six-shot cylinder 7 1/2'' octagonal barrel engraved frame and walnut grips. Stamped on the underside of the barrel is ''J.S. Heavenridge.'' Two J. Heavridges served with Indiana regiments during the Civil War and a ''J.S. Heavenridge appears in early 20th-century accounts of steam-powered factories in Missouri. Retains some of its original blueing with some wear and light corrosion to the frame.

The serial #825 places the handguns manufacturing date in the mid 1850's.Cheaper than the Colt 1849 pocket, this model never reached large sales figures. It has a 4" barrel with a five shot fluted cylinder. Matching serial numbers. Frame # under grips.

Partitioned factory mahogany case with eagle and shield flask with Remington banner; brass mold with no spruce cutter; pack of paper cartridges loading tool with cleaning rod. Revolver is pictured on page 70 of Remington's First Revolver by Charles Schif (2007). Condition: Case is excellent; lining has faded some. Flask is excellent retaining most of the original lacquered finish. One very small dent at the bottom. Barrel retains 90% of the bright original blue finish. Some light scratches to the blue finish on the right side of barrel. Cylinder retains 60% of the bright original blue finish with some scratches and flaking to plum. Frame retains 60% of the original blue finish fading to plum. Grips are excellent.
