South Pasadena, California, created in 1939, painted metal, chain-driven motor, numbered 33-12 with Baranger Studios, Inc. label to verso, the automation featuring four galloping horses pulling a stagecoach with kissing couple and two drivers, advertising sign behind the group reads "YOU WILL ALWAYS BE ON THE / RIGHT ROAD WITH ONE OF OUR / BEAUTIFUL DIAMONDS." COLT MODEL 1849 POCKET REVOLVER. .31 caliber five-shot cylinder with engraved stagecoach scene 5'' octagonal barrel with two-line New York address walnut grips. S/n 124279. Scratch-carved into the butt is ''Plater'' and either ''90'' or possibly a partially worn ''186_''. There are twenty-one Platers who served in the Union Army. Mottled patina with moderate oxidation action a little stiff nicks and dings grip varnish wearing off bore with pitting retains better than 80% of the silvering on the straps and trigger guard. Manufactured 1856.

With period/original flap holster. According to tradition this gun descended in the Long family of Terra Alta West Virginia. Only a few traces of bluing mostly with mottled gray patina scattered oxidation dings and dents mostly to the cylinder and to the wedge bore with some pitting action good marks clear cylinder scene still visible but faint in some areas. Manufactured 1863.

ID'D COLT MODEL 1849 POCKET REVOLVER. .31 caliber five-shot cylinder with engraved stagecoach scene 4'' octagonal barrel with two-line New York address walnut grips. S/n 170248. Engraved on the back strap is ''J.H.W.'' and on the butt strap is ''12th O.V.C.'' John H. Witherell enlisted in the 12th Ohio Cavalry in the fall of 1863. The 12th Ohio Cavalry spent most of its service in Kentucky and Tennessee. Bright gray patina with scattered light oxidation action smooth bore with some oxidation engraved scene and marks worn but visible. Manufactured 1860.

Engraved on the back strap is ''To. G.G. Allen.'' Several George G. Allens and a Gaston G. Allen were found in Civil War records. About 10% blue on the barrel else a mottled gray patina action a little stiff grips probalby cleaned or refinished marks generally crisp cylinder scene clear some silver remains on the trigger guard. Manufactured 1861.
