COLT MODEL 1849 POCKET REVOLVER CONVERSION. .32 caliber rimfire five-shot cylinder with engraved stagecoach scene 5'' octagonal barrel with two-line New York address nickel finish walnut grips. S/n 72228. Retains 75-80% of original nickel plating with sharp clear marks original finish on the grips minor dings and dents action smooth but the hammer will not stay cocked. The wedge has the matching s/n to the rest of the gun but also the number 2811.

Much of the blueing and silver plating remains. The bore has good rifling. Very minor rust in the bore and cylinders. Excellent mechanics. An old price tag for this revolver indicates that it was carried by William Thorn of Mississippi however there are no markings on the gun itself to support this and civilwardata.com does not list a William Thorn from Mississippi.

This revolver bears a striking resemblance to the Colt Model 1849 pocket revolver even in the locations of the serial numbers. Mottled patina dings around the wedge bore with oxidation action a little stiff marks still fairly clear.

This is a nice, clean and tight gun with the cylinder scene partially visible. This is a scarcer gun, first made in 1862. Dimensions: 4.5 inch barrel, 10.5 inches long overall. Processing and shipping within the continental U.S. $25.00 plus 1.5% replacement cost insurance.
Condition:
The gun is overall gray, with some minor rust on the barrel. The screws are all untouched, and the action is tight, although the cylinder is a little loose.
