A Chippendale Pie-crust Table, ca. 1750 With a central shaft in the Chippendale on a tripod base, the 20-3/4"D solid wood top with carved shaped rim. A bird-cage attached to the underside can be removed from the base; secured by a rectangular peg. The base has a fluted columnar shaft, above a diagonally carved cup and an egg and dart band, all set on a cabriole legged tripod base with foliate carved knees and claw and ball feet. The table stands approx. 27-1/2"H. Purchased from Marshall Galleries, Cleveland, Ohio, 1971.
