A RENAISSANCE REVIVAL ORMOLU MOUNTED OAK FOUR DIAL CLOC...A RENAISSANCE REVIVAL ORMOLU MOUNTED OAK FOUR DIAL CLOCK, HENRY MARC, FRENCH, 19TH CENTURY, of lantern form, the covered cup finial over a dome with bell, arches mounted with masks of Hercules wearing the Nemean lion's pelt and two clubs cross before him issuing scrolling foliate, within four pinecone and laurel wreath finials, over four circular Roman numeral enameled copper dials, each signed, "Hry. Marc," the interior clockworks jeweled and running on, above flourishes with Hercules motifs, flanked by mounted Athenian caryatids issuing flower garlands, raised on a cavetto stepped base on tapered circular gilt brass feet. Condition:
Some screws loose, patina, possibly regilt metal mounts, one clock dial enamel with damage and loss, but overall in good to very good condition, wear commensurate with age and use. Estimate ?1 200-1 800 Overall ormolu in good original condition discolouration to the beaded chain hanging at the top and lower left scroll arm bent out of shape and probably broken away at some point as is its opposite number beaded swags and tassles at the base also not the matching gilt finish jasper wear plaques are impressed Wedgwood lower left oval has horizontal crack through it other plaques are in good order dial looks original with some slight discolouration and minor chipping around right hand winding hole along with some very fine hairline cracking to the left of number 9. Movement signed Roque a Paris N1808. Appears to be in good clean order although not tested. Comes with pendulum and key.
