The rifle has an octagon barrel that shows a side sling eyelet with a moving loader complete with an internal spring and a flip up reticle. The action of the prop rifle works and cocks the hammer back with the internal reciever working properly. The condition of this prop rifle is good with no obvious signs of damage and shows good overall condition. The lever and action move such as an original and the trigger releases the hammer. Truly a high quality older prop. Non-functioning prop gun. The measurements of this prop rifle are 43 1/4"L x 6"W x 1 1/4"D.*

Walnut stock is original to the carbine and has some nicks and dings.? Loading lever has had some repair work done.?? Hammer has been replaced with a crude but workable hammer.

Two-leaf rear barrel sight right flat of barrel and top of barrel marked Ball and Williams Patent. All serial numbers match. Walnut stock and forearm. Condition: All metal is smooth and uniformly speckled with brown and grey mixing in. Buttstock and forearm with some nicks and dings. Left side of buttstock with a dim but readable cartouche on the wrist. This is one of the Ballard carbines delivered in the first contract. It is in the correct serial range and also has the ''NM'' cartouche on the left wrist.

Two chips out of the right grip one at the top and one at the bottom. Grips with nice mellowed yellow look.

Condition: Barrel retains 50% of the bright original blue finish just thinning and off of the high edges. Loading lever retains 40% of the original case colors turning to a dark brown. Frame retains traces of case colors turning brown. Cylinder scene is sharp and crisp with light patina brown appearance. Grips retain most of the original varnish with some wear on the sharp edges and some nicks and dings.
