An Elaborate Singing Bird Automaton
An Elaborate Singing Bird Automaton Silver gilt case on four scrolled feet the surfaces encrusted with relief designs of flowers instruments putti musicians. The relief designs are very crust and precise. Four applied figures of musician putti sit on top of the base and the latch press is in the form of a bird; a nest with mother and two baby birds serves as finial atop a fancy canopy supported by garland draped rococo supports. Overall measures apprx. 5-1/4"W x 3-1/2"D x 8-1/4"H. The interior of the box is also encrusted with relief designs of a flower urn swag and birds in the demonstrating original gilt finish. The underside has two very worn stamped marks and scratched numerals. Winding key in the shape of a bird. Working condition not tested or guaranteed.

Baby Crested Flycatcher stamped with shape number 458L, and the robin with shape number 437. Both marked ''Made in U.S.A.'' Robin has been repaired. The body has been glued back onto the base. The Baby Crested Flycatcher shows no signs of restoration.
