This volume is bound with reddish brown leather covers and decorated with gilt rule and gilt on the spine and edges. It has 4 original free papers of which one is bound to marbled paper that covers the entirety of the first paper and inside the cover on each end. Note: The original Marly Horse sculptures were rendered in marble by Guillaume Coustou between 1743-1745 and were created in life size. They were commissioned by Louis XV for his Chateau de Marly, to be placed at the trough at the entrance of the grounds. The sculptures were then moved to the Place de la Concorde in 1794 and remained there until 1984 when they were moved to the courtyard in the Richelieu wing of the Louvre Museum.
