QUEEN ANNE HIGH CHEST OF DRAWERS. New England mid 18th century curly maple and pine. Cabriole legs with pad feet scrolled apron with acorn drops and four overlapping dovetailed drawers in base with carved and blocked shell on center drawer. Top has six overlapping dovetailed drawers and molded cornice. Traces of old black paint brasses are old replacements. 70.5''h. 41''w. 20''d. Refinshed The legs are replaced. A small repair to one drawer corner along with a few surface scuffs on a drawer front.

Some edge loss to a drawer Refinished.

QUEEN ANNE HIGH CHEST OF DRAWERS. Rhode Island 1760-1770 curly maple pine and chestnut. The upper case with a flat top and five graduated drawers; the lower case with one over three drawers a dramatically shaped skirt and cabriole legs ending in pad feet. Minor imperfections. 73''h. 39''w. 21''d. Ex Joe Stevens. Aside from the appearance of pad feet (rather than slipper feet) the present chest is nearly identical to and possibly from the same shop as a high chest that sold at Sotheby's (New York) September 2008 lot 42. Refinished replaced brasses (some in original holes some nearly so) the refinishing was somewhat aggressive removing most of the color but not so aggressive as to degrade the wood surface.

QUEEN ANNE HIGHBOY Circa 1785 Fine Maple Two-Part High Chest, southeastern NH origin, with strong cornice molding over five rows of graduated drawers over a two-drawer base with an exceptionally fine skirt, all resting on tall cabriole legs ending in fully padded feet, in an old crackled shellac or varnish surface, retaining all original brasses and knee returns and with no drawer lip damage, pine secondary wood, 75 1/4" high, 38 3/4" wide. Surface wear commensurate with age.
