One page ALS double sided, signed by Nathaniel Pendleton (October 27, 1756-October 20, 1821). He was Attorney General of Georgia from 1785 to 1786. He was elected as a delegate to the Constitutional Convention of 1787 which drafted the United States Constitution. He was elected to the Congress of the Confederation (Continental Congress) in 1789 and was later a lawyer in New York. Also signed by Lieutenant Colonel Robert Benson. JAMES DUANE, SIGNED REVOLUTIONARY WAR DOCUMENT This important pay order document to James Duane (1733-1797) is boldly written and clearly readable. For service to the state of New York, Duane set out from Livingston Manor to attend a NY state Constitutional Convention in White Plains New York; meeting with others from the highlands and then going to Fishkill, New York and then back to Livingston Manor. This pay document lists his days of work from August 30, 1776 to February 1777 which was confirmed and paid by James Livingston (American, 1733-1797), of Livingston Manor. Document then proceeds to show he then received his monies from Peter Van Brugh Livingston, who was the first state treasurer of New York. Signed J, Duane and witnessed by John J. Meyers. James Duane was a delegate to the First Continental Congress, a signer of the Articles of Confederation, and a member of the Congress of the Confederation from 1781 until 1783. Duane became Mayor of New York in 1784 and served in that office for four years. He was elected to the New York Senate where he served from 1782-1785 and from 1788-1790. On September 25, 1789, President George Washington nominated Duane to the Federal District Court in New York and following confirmation by the United States Senate, Duane held that judicial office until he resigned due to ill health in 1794. James Duane is a Founding Father of the United States. The document is mounted in a double-sided glass frame.
