• MASSIVE SOUTHWEST BRASS BULL PENDANT
  MASSIVE SOUTHWEST BRASS BULL PENDANT W/ BELLS & NAJASouthwestern United States or Mexico, ca. 20th century CE. A nickel-brass plate hammered and cut into a bull's head then stamped with linear markings, and from the nose dangles a crescent shaped naja pendant and brass bells on the ears. A leather cord strung with copper and glass beads is threaded through an integral loop on the top of the plate. This bull's head could be worn as a bold necklace or used as a windchime or wall decoration. The naja crescent is a Navajo symbol that may have been introduced to the Southwest by the Spanish who may have adopted it from Muslim / Near Eastern tradition.
