An Italian Bronze and Gilt Bronze Figure of "Mercury" early 20th c. after Giambologna (Italian/Flemish 1529-1608) the messenger of the gods with one hand raising aloft a torch and the other holding his usual attribute of a caduceus figure posed with one winged foot balancing on the allegorical representation of the wind height 36 in. width 9 in. depth 9 in. on a carved red marble and black marble base.

Condition
Missing the caduceus held in the left hand, which has broken off. Seams where parts joined are visible. Minor age cracks and wear. Scattered pitting. Verdigris to the bronze base; rust to the screws. Stone base soiled. Impressive scale.
