THE CHEYENNE, ROMAN BRONZE WORKS
THE CHEYENNE, ROMAN BRONZE WORKS PLAQUE AFTER REMINGTONA bronze relief roundel cast by the Roman Bronze Works after the Frederic Remington (American, 1861-1909) bronze The Cheyenne, which was originally modeled in 1901. Roman Bronze Works was the foundry that exclusively produced most of Remington's bronzes, including the original Cheyenne bronze. Rich dark brown patina. Marked "Roman Bronze Works, N.Y." Fitted for wall hanging with three threaded hanger holes to the reverse. The plaque measures 18" in diameter and 2" deep. No other examples of this bronze roundel were found in our research. According to the consignor, this plaque was used by the Roman Bronze Works as a means of advertising the Remington Cheyenne bronze in the studio. Provenance: Phil Schiavo (the last president of the Roman Bronze Works), private collection in Virginia, present private collection.
Condition
Good condition. A few spots of mild rubbing to the patina, and a very small corrosive spot to the side just beyond the right edge.
