WWII German Naval Officer's
WWII German Naval Officer's Swordunmarked highly polished steel blade with wire-bound celluloid grip. The lion's head pommel D-guard and hinged cross guard are heavily gilded a high relief fouled anchor and the number N784 are on the right and left cross guards respectively. The sword retains its original gold and silver bullion portepee terminating in an acorn motif. The leather scabbard has gilt brass mountings and is affixed with a twisted black leather cord and brass sword hanger. Included is the sword's original wool-lined linen storage bag.This sword was ''liberated'' from a Nazi's Berchtesgaden vacation home in May 1945 by a Bronze Star recipient serving with the 171st Engineer Combat Battalion. Allegedly the trophy was hanging by a portrait of Admiral Erich Raeder. This ensemble is quite rare today in that all of its original elements are present.LOA 35.5 on.; Blade 29.25 in.Light localized rusting to the blade; gilt remains bright and full; some crazing to the leather; minimal mothing to the wool. Lion with jeweled eyes, handle with ornate design, shagreen wrap, cannons on one side, shield on other. 41" inscabbard, 39 3/4" without, blade 34" long. Some oxidation to blade, scuffing. Scabbard with wear, denting, oxidation. Partial Christie's tag attached. Provenance: Property from a Fairfield County Estate.

Antique German Bone Daggerdecorated in the Renaissance style carved bone handle featuring a crest with griffins and knights the guard of carved bone forged steel blade carved bone scabbard with profile portraits of four kings and with carved fruitwood tip.DOA: 16 in.Some old cracks wear to blade; looseness to scabbard. Wire supports to scabbard. Condition note: there is a chip to the connecting collar on the scabbard which appears to have been an old repaired break. The chip is present. The scabbard is now in three parts - the connecting collar the top section and the lower section.

RARE 16TH C. ZWEIHANDERA rare
RARE 16TH C. ZWEIHANDERA rare 16th century Lanzknechte “Zweihander” double edged sword. The quillions terminating with scaled demons, surmounted by large side rings, the parrying hooks showing a decorative edge. The grip has been replaced. Blade 35 inches (to the parrying hooks), overall length 62 inches. (Originally appraised by Sotheby’s in 1996). Note: The Landsknechte, were Germanic mercenaries used in pike and shot formations during the early modern period. Consisting predominantly of pikemen and supporting foot soldiers, their front line was formed by Doppelsöldner renowned for their use of the Zweihänder and arquebus.
