The funds from these official souvenirs were used to fund the 1927 restoration. Along with a rare black and white photographic print of Old Ironsides at the dock in Boston, showing the ship fully refitted and rigged after the 1927 restoration, 11" x 14". Provenance: Rodney Hilton Brown, The War Museum. Rodney was the Commandant's Advisor to the Commanding Officer of the USS Constitution for cataloging items of historical significance onboard the Constitution.

USS CONSTITUTION, OLD IRONSIDES, 4"
USS CONSTITUTION, OLD IRONSIDES, 4" PIECE OF LIVEoak from the hull of old Ironsides. It is fitted with a copper plaque from the melted copper hull sheath which reads "This material was taken from the original hull of the US Frigate Constitution Keel, laid 1794, rebuilding 1927". 3 3/4" x 2 1/2" x 1 1/2". Along with a matched pair of 24-lb deck cannons, as used aboard Old Ironsides. Made from materials salvaged from the 1927 restoration. They are 3 1/4" in length, and have working barrels which show signs of having been fired. Also included in this lot is a copper spike made by Paul Revere, marked US, and has also been found on the USS New Hampshire and on several ships under Admiral Perry's command in the Great Lakes during the War of 1812. The spike was recovered by Rodney Hilton Brown of the War Museum at Boston Navy Yard. Provenance: Rodney Hilton Brown, The War Museum. Rodney was the Commandant's Advisor to the Commanding Officer of the USS Constitution for cataloging items of historical significance onboard the Constitution.

EIGHT MINIATURE SAD IRONS. American late 19th century. Dover Lace Iron with red handle and original box (damaged); Dover Dolly Iron with red handle; Asbestos iron with black handle; Asbestos iron without handle; A-Best-O No. 602 Sad Iron; Sandy Andy No. 22 Sad Iron; and an Empire Metal Ware Corp. play iron with a wooden handle. Together with a green painted iron. Signs of use wear and play including paint loss surface scratches wear soiling some rust. Cardboard box is fragile and has been repaired with tape seams are torn and loose.

Isaac Hull autograph letter (1773-1843, War of 1812 Captain of the USS Constitution, known as "Old Ironsides", Commodore in the U.S. Navy), ten-line letter dated June 29th, 1819, sent from the Charleston Navy Yard (Boston, Massachusetts), addressed to Commodore John Rodgers (1772-1838), President of the Navy Board, Washington, D.C., discussing the acquisition of materials for two ships under construction, signed "Your Obedient Sevt. [sic] Isaac Hull", 9-3/4 x 11-3/4 in.; modern wood frame. Toning, foxing, fading, creases with separations, stains, minor losses, approximately 8 x 1 in. loss to address leaf, smudges to text and last character of signature as made, not examined out of frame; frame with abrasions.
