Winchester, Virginia flintlock rifle, .48 cal. brass-mounted rifle, 40 in. octagonal barrel signed in script "J Lauck" (John Lauck, Winchester, Virginia, born 1785, working 1810-1815), full curly maple stock, ornate brass patch box and trigger guard, concealed lid release in upper segment of hinge, finely carved pineapple and scroll decoration, silver inlay with pineapple and acorn motifs, original surface, lockplate marked "McKim Brothers, Baltimore(?)", 56 in., long chip on forearm, small chip at butt plate, patch box lid stuck, otherwise excellent condition ; with original bullet mould, 4-1/4 in., good condition, minor abrasions and normal wear , (two pieces). Loading block marked, "32 CAL". Walnut stocks, metal frame, round barrel. Standard sights. Barrel length - 24". Overall length - 43". Serial number corresponds to year 1886. Condition:
Bore is dark. All metal has a rust brown finish. Markings are faint. Wood is good with numerous dings. Action is excellent.

Worship Street/Shoreditch/London", framed. Note: James Barrett is listed as living at 6 Worship St. from 1848 until 1864 then at 87 Blackfriars Rd in 1852. He may be also identified with Henry James Barrett born August 11, 1819. The original lithograph from which this composition is taken was printed in 1992.
