Ellwood Morris was a member of the "Richmond School" of painters. The Richmond School was a group of Impressionist painters who worked in the Richmond, Indiana area from the late 19th century through the mid-20th century. Their work was well received in national exhibitions and locally with the Richmond Art Association, now known as the Richmond Art Museum.
