RICHARD AVEDON. "BEATLES PSYCHEDELIC PHOTO SET," CHROMOGENIC PRINT (American, 1923-2004). Set of four chromogenic color photograph prints (C-prints) of John Lennon, George Harrison, Ringo Starr and Paul McCartney.The Beatles were photographed by Richard Avedon on 11 August 1967 at a photographic studio in a penthouse in Thompson House, 200 Gray’s Inn Road, London. The copyright to the photographs taken at the photo session by Richard Avedon were assigned to NEMS Enterprises, Ltd., Brian Epstein's Beatles management organization, who had hired Richard Avedon. The images were first published in the 9 January 1968 edition of the US magazine Look, and were subsequently sold as posters. The four image set being consigned consists of color chromogenic photographs of Beatles John Lennon, George Harrison, Ringo Starr and Paul McCartney. Each image measures 7 3/4 x 9 15/16 in. on a full sheet size 8 3/16 x 10 7/16 in. with white borders.The back of each of the four photos bears an artist limitation stamp reading - "© COPYRIGHT BY AVEDON - ALL RIGHTS RESERVED - 75" and is grease pen marked "75" (for the year the image was reprinted), in what appears to be Avedon's own hand.
