[African Americans] Louisiana Slave Bill of Sale 1848 7.5'' x 12.55'' 4pp dated May 11 1848. The commission to Manuel Moreno Auctioneer for the sale of the estate of John Kleinpeter deceased of East Baton Rouge Parish La. listing twelve slaves/slave families (valued at $400-$1000 each) five horses (valued $4-$30 each) farming implements furniture etc. to be offered at the prices listed in cash or if receiving no bid on 12 months credit at an 8% premium. Witnessed by Hon. John L. Burk(Burns?) of the Sixth Judicial District Court. Condition: Slight bleeding between pages two holes punched in top margin one half-inch tear at top center. Text very clear and legible. Very good overall.
