An Edo period ivory netsuke carved as Ashinga 3ins Estimate ?250-300 Grained in dirt into the lower of the carving some slight orange staining to the back of the piece also some fine cracks to the back of the figure and across the top of his head. Himatoshi starts with a hole at the rear of the figure which exits in the drapery of his left sleeve there is also a hole between the feet with remnants of cord. First is a carved black and white agate in a Greek style depicting a reclining River God - Akeron (Acheron) on the banks of a river. Second is an amethyst carved with a scene of Herakles killing the Cretan bull. Finally, a black onyx intaglio in ovoid form depicting a nude Aphrodite, Nike handing her a Corinthian-style helmet.
