FOLK ART PLAQUE BY ERNEST ''POPEYE'' REED (OHIO 1919-1985). Sandstone carved on front. Impressive image of Adam and Eve with metal fig leaves in the form of arrowheads. They support a beam with a bust and two snakes. A smaller figure crouches between them. Below is a snake pulling a chariot. 27''h. 16''w. There is an approx. 5'' hairline on the bottom right corner small hairlines in the upper right snake and around Adam's right arm. There is what appears to be a mall amount of white paint splatter/over spray on the right side and top left. JW 8.29.12

Provenance: Property from the estate of Patricia Moffat Pope, San Francisco, CA, Mrs. Pope was born May 12,1927, to parents William H. Moffat and May Martin Moffat in Reno, Nev. She grew up, a cattleman's daughter, loving the ranches and riding horses. She married George A. Pope Jr. in 1959 and together they built a Thoroughbred horse racing empire that included 27 stakes winners in the United States and in Europe.
