Montgomery (1857-1922) (Circa 1900)The still life composition depicting a bent wood 'bushel' basket of stave construction, common in the 19th century, beside a primitive wood crate with bountiful ears of corn, is painted in the distinctive thick impasto technique unique to Montgomery and signed by the artist lower left.Board measures 20.25 x 30.5 with a framed size of 27.5 x 38 inches.Good to very good condition, noting very light but long scratches just above and on the wood crate. There are no other issues of scratching or paint loss. Considerable inpainting along the right edge as shown in the images.
