Subject's face is superbly executed with age lines. Ammi Phillips was born in Colebrook Connecticut and began painting Western Massachusetts subjects around 1811. He settled in Rhinebeck where he painted portraits along the New York and New England border. After his first wife died he remarried and lived in Kent and Sharon Connecticut then in northeast New York. He died in Curtisville New York in 1865. In almost sixty years Phillips produced more than 600 portraits that are still in existence.Oil on canvas 32 x 20''. Relined. Unframed.''

Asian, mid-19th century, gilt metal. Adorned in five-jeweled crown, large earrings, crushed lapis pigment to the hair and eyes, and draped in silks, the bodhisattva (the apparitional Amitabha) is seated in dhyanasana, cradling a vase of amrtia (the nectar of immortality), and seated on a moon disk over a lotus base. Heavy green patina dapples the base, shoulders, and the back of the figure's head and halo.

A NEPALESE GILT COPPER ALLOY SCULPTURE OF AMITAYUS Likely 15th or 16th century, the figure with serene facial expression and wearing a crown, a half-vajra finial over his ushnisha knot, his body adorned with ornate body jewelry inlaid in square and circular shaped turquoise stones, clad in a loosely fitting dhoti and seated in dhyanasana, his hands resting on his lap holding a kalasa, rice grain motif is incised at hem of his garment, the fabric gathered in a shallow tail under his ankles, seated on a double lotus base, underside is covered and embossed with double dorje vajras.
