[Cased Images] Niagara Falls Whole Plate Ambrotype Ca 1855 whole plate ambrotype of a scattered group on the American side of the Niagara Falls. Attributed to Platt D. Babbit who shot hundreds of photographs from the same vantage point called Prospect Point which he was known to defend vigorously reportedly hiring boys to walk around with giant umbrellas to block the shots rival photographers. Housed in a full press paper case.

Photos] Souvenir Medallion Featuring Views About Niagara After Photographs by Bierstadt A fine brass souvenir medallion stamped Niagara on one side and American crest with shield and eagle on the other side. When opened the medallion reveals an accordian-folded series of 16 tinted lithographs each 1.75'' in diameter featuring scenes based on photographs by Charles Bierstadt. Bierstadt's 1869 copyright and Niagara Falls address interior of both sides of medallion. With 12k gold-filled chain stamped 24''. Condition: Very good.

JEAN ZUBER & CO. PANORAMIC NIAGARA FALLS WALLPAPER PANELS Set of (9) 19th c. French Color Woodblock Panels, printed on heavy paper mounted on luan board, after a work by Jean Julien Deltil (France, 1791-1863), depicting a scene of Niagara Falls - centered by the sidewheel steamer Erie (1836-1841), with a horse-drawn rail coach filled with visitors to the left, and with figures in brightly colored 19th c. attire, including a group of African Americans and one Native American dancer, 72 1/4" high panels, (7) panels: 18 3/4" wide, (1) panel: 13 3/4" wide, (1) panel: 22 3/4" wide (note: one panel was cut down and added to another panel, possibly to accommodate a room corner for installation), overall width: 168 3/4" (14'-3/4"). Edge toning; minor fading; one stained area near base of panel with figures; scratch at center left edge of panel with African Americans.
These are from the original series of thirty-two Zuber & Co. panoramic panels, "Vues d'Amerique du Nord" (Views of North America), all based on paintings by Deltil, depicting scenes that appealed to 19th c. Europeans, such as West Point, New York Bay, and Boston Harbor. A full original set of these panels, salvaged from a house under demolition by First Lady Jacqueline Kennedy, is installed in the Diplomatic Reception Room at the White House.
